Our Club History

The Evening Rotary Club of Summerville, SC was started in 2010 as a sister club to the Rotary Club of Summerville, commonly known as the Summerville Lunch Club. This evening club was necessary to grow Rotary in the greater Charleston area offering an evening meeting time. Several Rotarian members and officers have sponsored, encouraged and supported the development of this club; to them we owe great thanks. The club was officially chartered by Rotary International on May 13, 2010 and officially designated as club number 83164. We were the 79th club in our District 7770.

The Rotary Districts assist Rotary International in administering the more than 34,000 Rotary clubs located throughout the world. Our club is pleased to be part of District 7770, one of the largest and most effective districts in the Rotary world. District 7770 is known throughout Rotary and is well respected for the quality results achieved by its members. District 7770 comprises the 25 eastern counties of South Carolina. Today, District 7770 encompasses 73 Rotary clubs with a membership of approximately 3,500 Rotarians.
